GROUP COUNSELING SESSIONS

Group treatment shall consist of didactic and counseling groups as follows:

Didactic groups are, but not limited to, a therapeutic activity whose primary purpose is to educate clients and their significant others on a specific treatment related topic in a group setting. Each group will be leadby a certified counselor or a counselor under the supervision of a professional staff or by other professionals with credentials specific to the subject matter of the didactic group following a lesson plan approved by the organization. Each meeting will be individually documented in the progress notes. Didactic group should not exceed an average of 12 people.

Counseling groups are, but not limited to, a therapeutic activity whose primary purpose is to allow patients and their significant others an opportunity to process issues related to their treatment in a group setting. Professional staff shall facilitate all counseling groups. Justification for all patients who attend any counseling group needs to be documented as an assessed need. Maximum counseling group sizes will be 6 to 8 people.
